How to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Why

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your Farm Focus account.

Instead of relying only on your password, MFA requires you to enter a verification code from an authenticator app each time you sign in. This helps protect your account if your password is compromised.

Benefits

Using MFA helps you:

• Protect your Farm Focus account from unauthorised access.
• Add an extra level of security beyond your password.
• Keep your farm and financial information secure.

Set up MFA during sign-up

When you sign up for Farm Focus, you will be prompted/required to set up MFA as part of the registration process .

1. Open your preferred authenticator app and add a new account (usually by selecting the + icon).
2. On the Farm Focus setup screen, either:
   • Scan the QR code using your authenticator app, or
   • Enter the setup key displayed on the screen manually.
3. Save your backup codes in a secure location. You can print, download or copy them.
4. Select Done to complete the setup.

NOTE: Your backup codes are only displayed once. After you select Done, you cannot view them again. Keep them in a safe place in case you lose access to your authenticator app or device.

Set up MFA for an existing account

If you already have a Farm Focus account and have not yet enabled MFA, you can set it up at any time.

1. Log in to Farm Focus using your usual login method.
2. Select your Profile (your initials in the circle in the bottom left corner).  
3. Select Set up multi-factor authentication.
4. Open your preferred authenticator app and add a new account (usually by selecting the + icon).
5. Scan the QR code displayed in Farm Focus or manually enter the setup key into your authenticator app.
6. Enter your Farm Focus password.
7. Enter the six-digit verification code generated by your authenticator app.
8. Select Verify to complete the setup.
9. Save your backup codes in a secure location. You can print, download or copy them before selecting Done.

NOTE: Your backup codes are only displayed once. After you select Done, you cannot view them again.

Recommended authenticator apps

You can use any compatible authenticator app. Common options include:

• Google Authenticator.
• Microsoft Authenticator.
• Authy.
• LastPass Authenticator.

How to log in with MFA

When you sign in to Farm Focus, you can:

• Enter your email address and password, then enter the verification code from your authenticator app.
• Sign in using your existing Google or Microsoft account, then enter the verification code from your authenticator app.

Benefits of signing in with Google or Microsoft

If you choose to sign in with your Google or Microsoft account, you can:

• Use one account to access multiple applications.
• Reduce the number of usernames and passwords you need to remember.
• Benefit from the additional security features provided by Google or Microsoft.

TIP:

We strongly advise keeping your backup codes in a secure location that is separate from your mobile device.
