How to Add a Farm Code Template

A farm code template is a predefined list of codes suited to a specific farm type. You can add additional templates to your existing code list as your business changes.

You can also manually add individual codes. Learn more about adding individual codes.

When setting up your Farm Focus subscription, you can select multiple templates based on your farming business needs.

Choosing the right template - New Zealand

Select a template based on the type of farming you are tracking:

• Meat production: Beef cattle, dairy beef, deer, goats, sheep.

• Milk production: Dairy (cows), dairy goats, dairy sheep.

• Genetics: Stud beef, stud sheep.

• Horticulture:

  • Pip fruits: Apples, pears.

  • Avocados

  • Berryfruits: Blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, raspberries, strawberries.

  • Kiwifruit: Green, red, gold.

  • Stone fruits: Apricots, cherries, nectarines, peaches, plums.

  • Root vegetables: Carrots, kumara, potatoes.

  • Bulbs: Brown onions, red onions.

  • Brassica and lettuce: Broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, spinach.

  • Cucurbits: Cucumber, melon, pumpkin, squash, zucchini.

• Cropping

  • Grains: Wheat, barley, oats, maize.

  • Legumes: Peas.

  • Seed Crops: Grass seed, clover seed.

  • Feed Crops: Fodder beet, maize silage.

• Contract milker

Select a template based on the type of farming you are tracking:

• Livestock: Beef cattle, dairy, sheep.

• Horticulture:
  • Berryfruits: Blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, raspberries, strawberries.
  • Stone fruits: Apricots, cherries, nectarines, mango, peaches, plums.
  • Pip fruits: Apples, pears.
  • Avocados
  • Root vegetables: Carrots, potatoes.
  • Bulbs: Brown onions, red onions.
  • Brassica and lettuce: Spinach, lettuce, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli.
  • Cucurbits: Melon, pumpkin, cucumber, zucchini.
• Broadacre and Plantation:
  • Fibre: Cotton.
  • Cereals: Barley, Oats, sorghum, wheat.
  • Oilseed: Canola.
  • Plantation: Sugarcane.
  • Legumes: Chickpeas, lentils.

How to Add a New Template to an Existing Code List

If your business expands, such as adding a finishing block to a dairy farm, you can add a new template to your existing code list.

• Go to Settings.

• Click Codes > Farm Codes.

• Click + Add new.

• Select Codes from templates.

• A modal will appear. Select the template you want to download.

• Click Apply.

Your new template will be added to your code list and can be viewed in Settings > Codes > Farm Codes.

Further Information

• If a template is identical to an existing one, you will not be able to add it.

• Shared codes are not imported again. Even if they appear in the template, they will not be duplicated in your code list.

• You can edit your existing code list to ensure it differs from the template you want to import. Learn how to edit your existing code list
