Understanding Processing Sheet Deductions

Processing sheets (kill sheets) include deductions such as commission, yard fees, NAIT processing, Beef & Lamb NZ levies, and product inspection levies. How you record these deductions in Farm Focus depends on your reporting preferences and management needs.

Recommended Approach: Using the Net Price

The simplest and recommended method is to record the net price after all deductions and levies have been applied.

• When coding the invoice, enter the net price.

• Delete additional deduction lines.

• Use the average weight.

TIP: If multiple stock classes appear on the same invoice, you may need to manually calculate the percentage deductions for each stock class.

Alternative Approaches for Recording Deductions Separately

If you prefer to track deductions separately, you have two options:

Option 1: Itemising Deductions in the Invoice

• Add additional lines for each deduction when coding the invoice.

• Specify each deduction (e.g., Beef & Lamb levy, NAIT levy) or group them into a single payment.

• Code deductions to the relevant stock class.

• Select Other as the Event Type for deductions.

This ensures deductions are correctly applied to the corresponding stock code in livestock reports.

Option 2: Using a Separate Expense Code

• Create a new expense code for deductions.

• Choose where it appears in your code list—under Stock or Farm Expenditure.

• This method keeps the stock price recorded as the gross amount before deductions.
