How to view and use the Trends report

The Trends report helps you:

• Create a budget, using the data from previous years, and the average of those years, as a guide.
• Validate your budget by checking it's realistic based on the prior four years, and the average of those years.
• Compare actuals against previous years, and the average, to identify any disruption in trends.
• Compare a draft plan with previous years when exploring alternative scenarios.
• Identify trends and anomalies in your farming operation.
• Review any five consecutive historical years.

How to create the Trends report

1. Go to Reports > Trends.
2. Select the Start year – This is the most recent year. For example, selecting 2023/24 as the start year will generate a report from 2019/20 to 2023/24.
3. Select the number of years – The maximum is five years.

If the current year is the start year:

• Select the dataset for the current year.
  • If you choose Actual + Plan, select a revision month. Setting the revision month to the current month will include coded transactions and paid/unpaid coded invoices, rather than planned items.
  • If you choose Actuals, only actual data will be displayed.

If the next financial year is the start year:

• Select the plan you want to use in the analysis.
• Choose to view the report by Payment date or Accrual date.

Viewing the Trends Report

1. The report lays out up to 5 years of data in columns, and the the final column displays an average of those years.
2. Use the chevrons on the left-hand side to expand or collapse the report between Section, Category and Extended code level, providing a high-level or detailed view as needed.
3. Use the view button in the top right to change between a GST exclusive or a GST inclusive view, and turn the Average column off.
4. Use the filter icon in the top right to filter by codes, bank accounts, or tag. This helps you focus on specific areas of your business.
5. Click the Summary sparkle button in the top right for an AI generated summary of the report.
6. Save a PDF or Print if required.
